Have you ever felt left out of a conversation when others were discussing an important current event? Do you vote (or would like to vote) but really don’t understand the process or how to make a decision?
This introduction to politics will give you a basic understanding of how Canadians govern themselves. It will discuss the areas of federal, provincial and municipal responsibility, the difference between the American and Canadian systems, the role of political parties and the differences between them, how elections are won or lost and the important role of the media and social media in our political process.
This course will serve as an introduction to anyone who wants to acquire basic political literacy and will also be useful to anyone thinking about getting involved in politics but feels they lack sufficient knowledge.
Current political events will be discussed and class participation will be encouraged. How we govern ourselves is important.
