STAR Literacy

Our Mission

To help adults in our community achieve their full potential by assisting them to develop their reading, writing, numeracy skills and/or English Language skills.

STAR Literacy is a non-profit adult literacy program that has been helping adults in St. Albert since 1990. We offer free tutoring to assist adults in improving their reading, writing, numeracy and/or English language skills. All our tutors are volunteers from the community. Our volunteers are fabulous and we couldn’t provide our program without them. If you would like to be a volunteer please call Susanne at 780-459-5864.

We work under the umbrella of St. Albert Further Education Association and receive the majority of our funding from Alberta Innovation & Advanced Education, Campus Alberta. Funding is also received from the City of St. Albert. The rest of our funding comes from grants received through community organizations, fundraising, and generous donations from local businesses and community members. STAR Literacy is a registered charity and issues tax deduction receipts.
